The Wicomico Youth and Civic Center is a big building in Salisbury, Maryland. It's a place where many different events happen. Think of it as a giant community center and sports arena all in one!
This center has a main arena that is super spacious, about 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2)! There's also a smaller arena, which is still quite large at 10,000 square feet (930 m2). The main arena can hold lots of people. It can seat 2,500 guests for big dinners or banquets. For concerts and stage shows, it can fit 3,000 people. Even bigger concerts can have 5,000 to 6,000 fans! The ceiling in the main arena is very tall, reaching 42-foot (13 m) high.
The Wicomico Youth and Civic Center first opened its doors in 1980. It was built to replace an older auditorium that had opened in 1950 but sadly burned down in 1977. Besides the arenas, the center also has ten meeting rooms. These rooms offer a total of 9,348 square feet (868 m2) of space for meetings, classes, or smaller gatherings. For many years, the center had a rule that no alcohol could be served. This rule changed in 2016, allowing more types of events to be held there.
