Wien, Missouri facts for kids
Wien is a small, quiet community located in the northeastern part of Chariton County, in the state of Missouri. It's not a big city, but a peaceful place where people live. You can find it about 16 miles north of a town called Salisbury, right along Missouri Route 129.
A Glimpse into Wien's History
Wien was officially planned and laid out in 1877. It was given its name after Vienna, which is the capital city of Austria. In German, Vienna is called Wien (pronounced "Veen").
Before the community was even planned, a post office was opened in Wien in 1873. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1903.
