How was it made?
The statue is made from strong materials like fiberglass and resin. It cost about 50,000 Polish złoty to build, which is roughly $14,000 or 12,000 euros. The money for the monument was provided by the local government of Słubice. This shows how much the community valued the idea of honoring Wikipedia.
When was it unveiled?
The Wikipedia Monument was officially revealed on 22 October 2014. The ceremony took place in Frankfurt Square (Plac Frankfurcki) in Słubice. People from the local groups that support Wikipedia, called Wikimedia chapters, and representatives from the Wikimedia Foundation (the organization that runs Wikipedia) were there. It was a big event celebrating a global effort.
