Wilbert Frazier's Basketball Journey
Wilbert Frazier was chosen by the San Francisco Warriors in the 1965 NBA draft. He was the 12th player picked overall in the second round. He played in two games for the Warriors.
After his time with the Warriors, Frazier spent the next two seasons playing in another league. He played for the New Haven Elms and the Harrisburg Patriots in the Eastern Professional Basketball League.
Playing in the ABA
In 1967, Wilbert joined the Houston Mavericks. This team was part of the American Basketball Association (ABA). He was one of their best scorers during the 1967–68 season. He scored about 12.4 points per game and grabbed 8.8 rebounds per game. Rebounds are when a player gets the ball after a missed shot.
After that season, he was traded to the Kentucky Colonels. A trade means players switch teams. In October 1968, he was traded again, this time to the New York Nets. He played one season for the Nets. He was then released from the team in October of the next year.
