Wilcox is a small place in Wisconsin, United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it is a group of homes and businesses that does not have its own local government, unlike a city or town.
Wilcox is located in the area called Grover, which is part of Marinette County. It is about 6 miles (10 km) southwest of the town of Peshtigo. The Canadian National Railway also passes through or near Wilcox.
What's in a Name?
Wilcox was given its name to honor a person who settled in the area a long time ago.
A Look Back: Wilcox History
Wilcox once had a special building called a creamery. A creamery is a place where milk and cream are processed to make butter or cheese. The Feifarek family owned and ran this creamery.
In 1909, a fire sadly destroyed the creamery when F. B. Feifarek was in charge. But the family did not give up! They rebuilt it, and Lawrence Feifarek later reopened and managed it.
Wilcox also used to have a station for trains to pick up and drop off goods. This was called a railroad freight station. However, this station was removed in 1935.
