Wildcat Creek is a small river, about 16 miles (26 km) long. It flows through Lane County, Oregon, in the United States. This creek is located inside the Siuslaw National Forest. Wildcat Creek eventually flows into the Siuslaw River near a place called Austa. You can find Austa along Oregon Route 126.
In the 1800s, this creek was called Walton Creek. It was named after Joshua J. Walton. He was a lawyer and a judge in Lane County. He also helped manage the University of Oregon. Later, in the 1900s, the name was changed to Wildcat Creek.
Where Wildcat Creek Flows
Wildcat Creek starts flowing west from its source. Then it turns north. Near Penn Road, another small stream called Warden Creek joins it from the right side.
The creek then turns west again. Salt Creek joins it from the right, and Bulmer Creek joins from the left. After this, the creek reaches the small community of Penn. Penn Road runs next to the creek in this area.
Near Penn, Fish Creek flows into Wildcat Creek from the right. This is about 10 miles (16 km) from where Wildcat Creek ends. The creek continues flowing west, with Highway 126 running beside it. It passes through Walton, where Chickahominy Creek joins it from the right.
After Walton, Wildcat Creek turns south. Several other creeks, like Walker, Kirk, and Schultz creeks, join it from the right. Then, Pataha Creek joins from the left near the community of Globe.
The creek turns west one last time and goes under Highway 126 before reaching Austa. At Austa, Wildcat Creek flows under the Wildcat Creek Bridge. This bridge carries a local road. Finally, Wildcat Creek flows into the Siuslaw River. The Siuslaw River then flows about 45 miles (72 km) more before reaching the Pacific Ocean.
