Wilderville, Texas, is a small place in Falls County, Texas, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it is part of the larger county. Wilderville is located about six miles southeast of the town of Rosebud. You can find it along FM 413. In the year 2000, about 45 people lived there.

Wilderville's History

Wilderville was first settled in the 1870s. This was just after the Civil War ended. The E. M. Wilder family were among the first to settle here. The community was named after them.

Early Growth and Services

A post office opened in Wilderville in 1874. It helped people send and receive mail until 1906. In the early 1900s, Wilderville grew quite a bit. About 300 people lived there at that time.

The community had many important services. There were two churches for people to worship. A school helped educate the children. Wilderville also had steam gristmills. These mills ground grain into flour. Cotton gins were also present. They helped separate cotton fibers from their seeds. The community even had its own weekly newspaper.

Population Changes Over Time

After its early growth, Wilderville's population started to shrink. By 1930, only 10 people lived there. The community became much smaller.

However, the population later grew again. By the year 2000, 45 people called Wilderville home. Even with this growth, only one store remained in the community.
