William Bogert (born January 24, 1936 – died January 12, 2020) was an American character actor. A character actor is someone who plays many different types of roles, often supporting ones, rather than the main hero or villain. He was well-known for his role as Brandon Brindle on the TV show Small Wonder from 1985 to 1989. He also played Kent Wallace, the host of funny Frontline spoofs on Chappelle's Show from 2003 to 2004. In 1964, he became famous for starring in a political advertisement called "Confessions of a Republican".

Acting Career

William Bogert started his acting career in 1953. He appeared in many popular TV shows. He was a guest star on shows like Gilmore Girls, Law & Order, and The Wonder Years.

TV Shows and Famous Roles

Bogert played the neighbor Brandon Brindle in all four seasons of Small Wonder. This show aired from 1985 to 1989. He also appeared in many other classic TV series. These included M*A*S*H, The Jeffersons, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He was a familiar face on television for decades.

The "Confessions of a Republican" Ad

In 1964, Bogert starred in a famous political advertisement. It was called "Confessions of a Republican." This ad was made for Lyndon B. Johnson during the 1964 U.S. presidential election. Bogert himself was a Republican for his whole life. This was a requirement for him to get the role in the ad.

Years later, in 2016, Bogert talked about the ad again. He appeared on news shows like Don Lemon's CNN show and Rachel Maddow Show. He discussed how the old ad was still important for the 2016 election. In July 2016, he even appeared in a new version of the ad. In it, he repeated his famous line, "He scares me," which he had said about a candidate 52 years earlier.
