William Peter Bradshaw, also known as Lord Bradshaw or Bill Bradshaw, was born on September 9, 1936. He is a British academic and politician. He is a member of the House of Lords, which is part of the UK Parliament. Lord Bradshaw belongs to the Liberal Democrat political party. Before joining the House of Lords, he was a local politician. He served as a County Councillor in Oxfordshire from 1993 until 2008.

Who is Lord Bradshaw?
William Bradshaw is the son of Leonard and Ivy Bradshaw. He went to Slough Grammar School for his education. Later, he studied at the University of Reading.
Family Life
In 1957, he married Jill Hayward. They had two children together. After Jill passed away in 2002, he married Diana Ayris in 2003. He also has a grandson named Huu Bradshaw.
Early Career in Transport
After finishing his National Service from 1957 to 1959, Bill Bradshaw started working for British Rail. This was a major railway company in Britain. He worked there from 1959 to 1985.
He began as a management trainee. This means he was learning how to manage different parts of the company. He worked his way up to important roles. By 1980, he was the Director of the Policy Unit. In 1983, he became the General Manager of British Rail's Western Region.
After British Rail
After leaving British Rail, Lord Bradshaw continued his work in transport. From 1986 to 1992, he was a Professor. He taught Transport Management at the University of Salford.
He also became a fellow at Wolfson College, Oxford. A fellow is a senior member of a college. From 1987 to 1993, he was the Chairman of Ulsterbus and Citybus Ltd. These are bus companies in Belfast.
Lord Bradshaw also advised the House of Commons. This is one of the two parts of the UK Parliament. He was a special adviser to their Transport Select committee. This role lasted from 1992 to 1997.
Becoming a Lord
On July 22, 1999, William Bradshaw was given a special title. He was made a Life peer. This means he became a member of the House of Lords for life. His full title became Baron Bradshaw, of Wallingford in the County of Oxfordshire.
