Early Life and Work at Ferrero
William Salice was born in a town called Casei Gerola, Italy. This was on July 18, 1933. He started working at Ferrero in 1960. Over time, he became a close helper to the company's owner, Michele Ferrero.
The Idea Behind Kinder Eggs
Salice came up with the idea for Kinder Surprise Eggs in the late 1960s. He was looking for new ways to use the chocolate molds that Ferrero used for easter eggs. These molds were usually unused for most of the year.
Even though he created the idea, Salice always said that Michele Ferrero was the true inventor. Salice saw himself as just the person who made the idea happen. Kinder Eggs were first sold in 1974.

William Salice also helped create other popular Ferrero products. These include the delicious Ferrero Rocher chocolates. He also helped with Pocket Coffee, which is a chocolate filled with liquid coffee.
Helping Young Entrepreneurs
After he retired in 2007, Salice started a new project. He co-founded a group called the Color Your Life Foundation. He started this with another Italian businessman, Enrico Gasperini. This foundation offers free classes. These classes help young people who want to start their own businesses.
