Even though it's small, Williamsburg is right next to a bigger town called Truth or Consequences. This means it acts a bit like a suburb. The village is growing, especially near I-25. Many people think it could become a popular place for those who enjoy the nearby Elephant Butte lake.
Williamsburg got its name from its first mayor, Dr. Thomas B. Williams. He lived from 1893 to 1967.
