In 2000, about 3,776 people lived there. By 2020, the population grew to 6,196 people. The name "Williamson" might be a bit confusing. Many people in the area have always called it "Williamson Valley". This name comes from a main road that goes through the area, called Williamson Valley Road.

Trying to Become a Town
In 2009, there was an attempt to make Williamson an official town with its own government. However, this idea did not pass. The nearby town of Prescott voted against the proposal.
Williamson Valley vs. Mint Valley
Historically, people in the area and local government officials often referred to the entire region as "Williamson Valley." But according to some county plans, only the northern part of the area is truly "Williamson Valley." The southern part was known as "Mint Valley" a long time ago.
