Williamstown Lake is a popular spot for fun and relaxation in Grant County, Kentucky. It's a large lake, about 333-acre (1.35 km2) in size. The lake is also a reservoir, which means it stores water for people to use.

The lake was created in 1955. Workers built a dam across the South Fork of Grassy Creek. This dam held back the water, forming the lake. Williamstown Lake officially opened for visitors in 1957. People could then enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming.

The lake has more than 20 miles of shoreline. Over 300 summer cottages and year-round homes are built along the water's edge. People who live there or visit love the lake. They enjoy special events every year. These include the Labor Day Boat Parade and Paddle Williamstown.

Getting on the Water

There are two main places to launch boats at Williamstown Lake. These are called boat ramps.

Williamstown Marina

The Williamstown Marina is open to everyone. It's a public boat ramp. You can also get fuel for your boat here. There's a small store for snacks and drinks. Plus, you can grab a meal at the restaurant.

Lemon's Landing

Lemon's Landing is a newer boat ramp. It used to be known as Ruby's. This ramp is private. Only members of the Lake Association can use it.

The Lake's Future

There are some big plans and discussions about Williamstown Lake's future. These include a project to make the lake bigger. There's also a large attraction being built nearby.

Lake Expansion Project

The Williamstown Lake Expansion Project is a plan to make the lake much larger. The goal is to triple its current size. This project aims to provide more safe drinking water for the surrounding areas.

Ark Encounter Attraction

The Ark Encounter is a big visitor attraction. It is being built close to the lake. This attraction is from the same people who made the Creation Museum in Hebron, Kentucky. Some people who own property around Williamstown Lake are thinking about how this attraction might affect the lake's water levels. They wonder if more visitors will use more water.
