Grant County is a county located in the northern part of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, about 24,941 people lived there. Its main town, or county seat, is Williamstown.
The county was started in 1820. It was named after Colonel John Grant. He led a group of settlers in 1779. Grant County is part of the larger Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The Grant County News is a local newspaper. It started in 1906 in Williamstown. Old copies are kept safe on microfilm by the University of Kentucky Libraries.

History of Grant County
Grant County was created in 1820. Land was taken from Pendleton County to form it. The historic courthouse was built in 1939. It replaced two older buildings. A new court building was finished in April 2010.
In 1975, many people in the area reported seeing a UFO (Unidentified Flying Object). This happened near Williamstown Lake.

Grant County covers a total area of about 261 square miles. Most of this, about 258 square miles, is land. The rest, about 2.8 square miles, is water.

Grant County is home to the Ark Encounter. This is a large, life-size replica of Noah's Ark. It is operated by the Christian group Answers in Genesis. The Ark Encounter opened in 2016 and is located in Williamstown.
