Becoming a City
Before 1876, much of Corinth was in Owen County. But in 1876, it became part of Grant County.
In 1878, Corinth officially became a city. The Kentucky State Legislature made this happen. They also started the Corinth Academy that same year.

Another major fire in 1933 destroyed much of the downtown area. Firefighters from other towns helped put it out. A big problem was the lack of water. To fix this, the Corinth Water District was created in 1986. In 1995, the city got help to build a water treatment plant.
