Guillermo Gustavo "Willy" Hernangómez Geuer (born May 27, 1994) is a Spanish professional basketball player. He plays for FC Barcelona in Spain. He is a center and stands 7 feet tall.

Willy's Basketball Journey
Starting with Real Madrid
Willy Hernangómez began his basketball career with Real Madrid. He played for their reserve team from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, he was loaned to Cajasol Sevilla to gain more experience. He returned to Real Madrid's main team in 2015. During the 2015–16 season, he played in the Spanish ACB League. He averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Playing in the NBA: New York Knicks

Willy was chosen in the 2015 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. However, his rights were quickly traded to the New York Knicks. He officially joined the Knicks on July 8, 2016.
He made his NBA debut on October 25, 2016. He scored four points in his first game. He also spent some time with the Westchester Knicks, their minor league team. On November 9, 2016, he scored 14 points against the Brooklyn Nets. He set a career high with 16 rebounds on January 25, 2017. Later, on February 1, 2017, he had 16 points and 16 rebounds in another game against the Nets.
Willy was chosen to play in the 2017 Rising Stars Challenge. He had his best scoring game on March 25, 2017, with 24 points. He also grabbed 13 rebounds in that game. He tied his career high of 24 points on April 9, 2017. After a great April, he was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. He was also selected for the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Moving to Charlotte and New Orleans
On February 7, 2018, Willy was traded to the Charlotte Hornets. He played for the Hornets until 2020. On November 30, 2020, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. He played for the Pelicans until 2023.
Return to Spain: FC Barcelona
On July 12, 2023, Willy Hernangómez signed a three-year contract with FC Barcelona. This was a big move back to Spanish basketball.
Playing for Spain
Junior National Teams
Willy played for Spain's junior national basketball teams. He was part of the All-Tournament Team at the 2012 Albert Schweitzer Tournament. He won a gold medal at the 2011 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship. He also earned a silver medal at the 2014 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. He was named to the All-Tournament Team there too.
Senior National Team Success
Willy has been a key player for the senior Spain national basketball team.
- He won a gold medal at EuroBasket 2015.
- He earned a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
- He won another bronze medal at EuroBasket 2017.
- In the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, he helped Spain win a gold medal.
- At EuroBasket 2022, Willy and Spain won a surprising gold medal. They defeated France in the final game. Willy scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds in that final. He was named the EuroBasket MVP for his amazing performance. He averaged 17.2 points and 6.9 rebounds during the tournament.

Willy's Family
Willy comes from a family of basketball players. His parents are Guillermo Hernangómez Heredero and Margarita "Wonny" Geuer Draeger. His mother, Margarita, was born in Seville and has German roots. Willy's brother, Juancho Hernangómez, is also a professional basketball player. Juancho currently plays for Panathinaikos in Greece.
