What Does the Wilson's Bird-of-Paradise Look Like?
Male Birds: Bright and Bold
The male Wilson's bird-of-paradise is truly a sight to behold. It has a mix of bright red and black feathers. Around its neck, it wears a striking yellow "mantle," which is like a cape. Its mouth is a light green, and its feet are a vibrant blue.
One of the most unique features of the male is its head. It has no feathers on top, showing a bare, bright blue skin. On this blue skin, there's a cool black pattern that looks like a double cross. To complete its fancy look, it has two curved, violet tail feathers.
Female Birds: More Natural Colors
Like many bird species, the female Wilson's bird-of-paradise is not as flashy as the male. She has brownish feathers, which help her blend in with her surroundings. However, she also has a bare blue patch on her head, similar to the male, but without the black cross pattern.
