Wilson da Silva Piazza (born 25 February 1943) is a famous former Brazilian footballer. He was known for playing as a defensive midfielder or centre-back. This means he was a player who helped defend his team's goal and also started attacks from the middle of the field. Piazza spent most of his career with Cruzeiro E.C. and was a key player for the Brazil national team. He is most famous for being part of the Brazilian team that won the 1970 World Cup. Wilson Piazza played 51 games for the Brazilian national team between 1967 and 1975. He was chosen to play for his country in two World Cups: in 1970 and 1974.
Winning the 1970 World Cup
The 1970 World Cup in Mexico was a huge moment for Piazza. He played in six games during that tournament. Brazil's team was incredibly strong and is often called one of the greatest football teams ever. Piazza was part of the team that won the final match 4–1 against Italy. This victory made Brazil world champions!
Club Success with Cruzeiro
Piazza played for Cruzeiro E.C. for many years, from 1963 to 1979. During his time there, he helped the club win many important titles.
