Winslow State Park is a fun outdoor spot in Wilmot, New Hampshire. It's found on the side of Mount Kearsarge. This park is a great place for families to visit.

You can find a nice picnic area high up on a plateau. From here, you get amazing views of the White Mountains. It's a perfect spot to eat lunch and enjoy nature.

The park also has cool trails for hiking. The Winslow Trail is about 1.1 miles long. It takes you from the picnic area all the way to the top of Mount Kearsarge. There's also the Barlow Trail, which is 1.7 miles long. You can use it to make a loop hike.

What's the History of Winslow State Park?

This park is named after an old hotel called Winslow House. The hotel was named after Admiral John Ancrum Winslow. He was a hero from the Civil War. Admiral Winslow commanded a famous ship called the USS Kearsarge.

Today, only a small part of the old hotel remains. You can still see a cellar hole in the picnic area. This is where the hotel used to stand. Winslow State Park officially became a state park in 1935.

Exploring the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway

Winslow State Park is part of a much bigger trail system. It's on the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway. This is a long loop trail that stretches for about 75 miles!

The Greenway connects many other parks and natural areas. These include Rollins State Park, Mount Sunapee State Park, and Wadleigh State Park. It also goes through state forests and wildlife areas. It's a great way to explore more of New Hampshire's beautiful outdoors.
