Winston Houghton Rekert (born June 10, 1949 – died September 14, 2012) was a Canadian actor. He was most famous for his roles in the TV shows Adderly and Neon Rider.

Winston Rekert's Acting Career
Winston Rekert was born in Vancouver, Canada. He started acting when he was just 12 years old. His first role was in a play called Amahl and the Night Visitors.
After finishing high school, Winston worked for a year in a logging camp. Then, he decided to try acting full-time. He joined the Arts Club Theatre Company. In 1973, he got his first TV role in the show The Beachcombers, which was a mix of comedy and drama.
In 1985, Winston acted in the American movie Agnes of God. That same year, he was nominated for a Genie Award. This was a big award for Best Actor in Canada, for his role in the movie Walls.
Starring in Adderly
From 1986 to 1988, Winston Rekert was the main star of the Canadian TV show Adderly. This show was a comedy-drama that made fun of (or "spoofed") spy movies. In 1987, Winston won a Gemini Award for his amazing acting in Adderly. This award was for Best Lead Actor in a TV drama.
Creating Neon Rider
After Adderly finished, Winston's childhood friend, Danny Virtue, had an idea for a new TV show. This idea became Neon Rider. The show ran from 1990 to 1995. Winston played Michael Terry, a therapist who ran a ranch for young people who were having problems.
Winston also helped write, direct, and produce Neon Rider. Because of the show, he worked with many youth groups. He even became the national spokesperson for an organization called Youth at Risk.
In 2003, Winston won his second Gemini Award. This time, it was for Best Actor in a Guest Role for his appearance on the TV show Blue Murder.
Throughout his career, Winston Rekert appeared in many other TV shows. Many of these were filmed in Vancouver, which is sometimes called "Hollywood North." Some of these shows include Cold Squad, Supernatural, Stargate SG-1, and Battlestar Galactica.
In April 2012, Winston received the Sam Payne Lifetime Achievement Award from the Union of B.C. Performers. This award honors actors who show kindness, artistic honesty, and help new talent.
Winston Rekert's Passing
Winston Rekert passed away on September 14, 2012. He was 63 years old. He died after battling cancer for three years.
