Woodcocks is a small area located about 15 kilometers (about 9 miles) west of Warkworth. It is part of the Rodney District in New Zealand. This place got its name from the Woodcock family. They were early settlers who moved there around the year 1895.

Exploring Woodcocks

Woodcocks is a quiet spot in the wider Auckland Region. It is known for its history, especially its connection to New Zealand's railway system.

The Old Train Station

Woodcocks used to have its own train station. This station was an important stop on the North Auckland Line. It helped move things like farm animals and other goods. People could also use it to travel.

The Woodcocks train station first opened in 1904. It served the community for many years. However, it closed down in 1964. After it closed, all train traffic was sent to the Kaipara Flats station. This station is about 5 kilometers (3 miles) further north.

Station Location and History

The Woodcocks station was located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Westfield Junction. This junction is where the North Auckland Line connects with the main railway line of the North Island.

Today, not much is left of the old Woodcocks station. It was situated between Guy Road and West Coast Road. The house where the stationmaster used to live is still there. It is now a private home.
