Woodland is a small, unincorporated community located in Union County, Ohio, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live together, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called a township.
Woodland is found in Jackson Township. You can find it where Woodland Road (also known as Union County Highway 315) meets Fox Road (Union County Highway 316). It's about five miles northeast of a town called Richwood.
The Story of Woodland
Woodland began to grow in the 1860s, which was over 150 years ago! At that time, people built a store and a planing mill there. A planing mill is a place where wood is smoothed and shaped, often for building materials.
A post office was opened in Woodland in 1869. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years before it closed in 1907.
