Woodland Hills Mall is a very large shopping mall located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. It opened in August 1976. This mall has over 1 million square feet of space!
You can find 148 different shops and restaurants here. About 80 of these stores are special and can only be found in the Tulsa area. The biggest stores, called "anchor stores," are Dillard's, JCPenney, and Macy's.
Mall History
Woodland Hills Mall first opened its doors in 1976. It started with three main "anchor" stores: Sears, John A. Brown, and Dillard's. There were also more than 100 smaller shops spread across the mall's two floors.
In 1982, the mall got bigger with an expansion. A fourth anchor store, Sanger-Harris, was added. They also built a new food court and several more small stores.
Over the years, some of the anchor stores changed. In 1985, JCPenney took over the spot where the John A. Brown store used to be. The Sanger-Harris store changed twice. First, it became Foley's in 1987, and then Macy's in 2006.
The mall itself got big makeovers in 1995 and again in 2014 to keep it looking new. Since 2002, a company called Simon Property Group has owned the mall. The Sears store at Woodland Hills Mall closed on October 15, 2018.
Mall Entrances
Woodland Hills Mall has four main entrances, and they are all named after trees! These are "Maple," "Pinecone," "Acorn," and "Redbud."
The "Maple" entrance is on the southeast side, and "Pinecone" is on the northwest side. Both of these lead you to the mall's first floor. The "Acorn" entrance is on the southwest, and "Redbud" is on the northeast. These two entrances take you to the second floor.
The entrances on the west side of the mall are near where the Sears store used to be. The entrances on the east side are next to Macy's.
Fun Amenities
The mall offers many cool things to do and use, some are free and some cost a little money. You can find a fun carousel, free Wi-Fi, and a special play area for kids.
During holidays, you can even take photos with Santa or the Easter Bunny! If you have little ones, you can rent "Kiddie Kruzzer" strollers. They cost $5, and you get $0.50 back when you return them. You can find these strollers at the lower level Redbud entrance and the upper level Pinecone entrance (near Macy's).
The mall also has special parking spots for military veterans and active duty members. There are 10 of these spots in 5 different locations. You can find them near the four main entrances, and also near the JCPenney and Macy's entrances.
Public Transportation
You can get to Woodland Hills Mall using public buses! The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority, also known as Tulsa Transit, has two bus routes (318 and 471) that stop at the mall six days a week (Monday-Saturday). On Sundays, there is limited service using route 880. The bus stop for all routes is located at the Redbud entrance, between the former Sears store and Dillard's.
Food Court Options
The mall has a large food court with over 580 seats, and it even has a cool fire pit! You can easily get to the food court through the Pinecone entrance on the northeast side.
The food court has many different restaurants to choose from, like Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Charley's Grilled Subs, Chick-fil-A, It's Greek To Me, Nori Japan, Starbucks, and Subway. There's also a Texas de Brazil restaurant, which is an all-you-can-eat steakhouse. However, it's located on the other side of the mall, near the Acorn entrance, not in the main food court.
