How Woodleaf Got Its Name

Woodleaf has had a few different names over the years. It was once called Barker House, Barker Ranch, and Barker's Ranch. These names came from Charles Barker, who was one of the first people to settle there in 1850.

Later, the name changed to Woodville. Finally, it became Woodleaf. This last name honors James Wood. He bought the property in 1858.

The Post Office Story

A post office is a place where you can send and receive mail. Woodleaf had its own post office for many years. It opened in 1898.

The post office stayed open until 1971. There was a short time when it closed, from 1945 to 1947. But it reopened before closing for good.
