Wyeth, Missouri facts for kids
Wyeth is a small, unincorporated community located in Andrew County, in the state of Missouri, United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
Where is Wyeth?
This community is found about 1.5 miles (or about 2.4 kilometers) southeast of a town called Rosendale. It's also right on Missouri Route C, which is a road that helps people get around the area. A river called the One Hundred and Two River flows nearby, about half a mile (or 0.8 kilometers) to the west of Wyeth.
The Story of Wyeth
Wyeth has an interesting past. It wasn't always called Wyeth! Long ago, it was known by a different name: Rush. This name came from a local landowner named Peter Rush.
In 1890, a post office was opened in the community, and it was called the Rush post office. However, things changed a few years later. In 1904, the name of the community, and the post office, was officially changed to Wyeth. But the post office didn't stay open for long after that; it closed its doors in 1905.
