His Education Journey

Yair Auron studied history and sociology at Tel-Aviv University. He earned his first degree there. Later, he got a master's degree from The Hebrew University. He then went to Paris, France, to study more. He earned his Ph.D. from the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle.

Working as a Historian

From 1974 to 1976, Yair Auron worked at Yad Vashem. This is a special place in Jerusalem that remembers the Holocaust. He was in charge of the education part there. In the 1980s, he did research at the Hebrew University. He also worked at an institute linked to Tel-Aviv University.

From 1996 to 1999, he taught at the Max Stern Academic College of Emek Yezreel. He was a senior lecturer and led the Cultural Studies section.

Today, Auron helps lead the Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide in Jerusalem. He is also on the board of directors for the Zoryan Institute. This is a group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. He also advises The Genocide Education Project in San Francisco, USA. These groups work to teach people about genocide. They help prevent such terrible events from happening again.
