Yanic Truesdale, born on March 17, 1970, is an actor from Canada and the United States. He is most famous for playing the character Michel Gerard in the popular TV show Gilmore Girls.

Early Life and Training
Yanic Truesdale grew up in Montreal, Canada. When he was 17, he started studying acting at the National Theatre School of Canada. He finished his studies there when he was 20 years old.
Acting Career
Early Roles in Canada
One of Yanic Truesdale's first big acting jobs was a main role in He Shoots, He Scores. This was a popular Canadian TV show about hockey. He also worked for six years on a TV series called fr: Les héritiers Duval.
In 1998, he was nominated for his first Gemini Award. This award was for Best Acting in a Comedy Series. It was for his role in the show fr: Majeurs et vaccinés. In this series, Truesdale played the only Black child in a white family. Later, he starred in fr: Mauvais Karma, which earned him another Gemini nomination.
Moving to Hollywood
After working in Canada, Truesdale moved to New York City. There, he studied acting at the famous Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. His very first audition in Los Angeles was for the TV show Gilmore Girls.
He got the part of Michel Gerard. He played this character for 158 episodes. Michel Gerard was a funny, sarcastic, and kind concierge at the Independence Inn. Truesdale acted alongside Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Melissa McCarthy in the show. His role as Michel was very popular. It even put him on the Variety 10 Actors to Watch list. Other actors on that list included Ryan Gosling and Jennifer Garner.
Recent Projects
Yanic Truesdale has continued to act in many projects. He appeared in the movie My Salinger Year with Sigourney Weaver. This film was shown at the Berlin Film Festival. He also had a role in the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm for HBO. In this show, he played the agent for Lin-Manuel Miranda.
He is also part of the mystery movie series Fallen Angels Murder Club for Lifetime. In these movies, he acts with Toni Braxton.
In 2022, Truesdale starred in the Netflix comedy series God's Favorite Idiot. He acted alongside Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone. In this show, he played Chamuel. The story is about a tech support worker who becomes God's messenger.
In 2025, Yanic Truesdale worked again with the creators of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. He joined their Amazon Prime series Étoile. In this show, he plays Raphaël Marchand. He is a colleague and friend of the director of a fictional ballet company in Paris. He appeared in all eight episodes of the first season.
Personal Life
Yanic Truesdale owns an indoor cycling studio in Montreal. It is called Spin Énergie.
