Yarbo is a small community located in Washington County, Alabama, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
The Story of Yarbo
Yarbo got its name from a person named Robert E. Yarborough. He was the first postmaster in the area. The name 'Yarbo' is a shorter version of his last name.
A post office served the community for many years. It was open from 1917 until 1954. This means people could send and receive mail right there.
In 1918, a big lumber company bought a local mill. This company was called Ingram-Day Lumber Company. They were based in Lyman, Mississippi. The mill in Yarbo was very busy. It could produce a lot of wood every day. They even added special ovens called 'dry kilns'. These kilns helped dry the wood faster.
