Yasuharu Sorimachi (反町 康治, Sorimachi Yasuharu, born March 8, 1964) is a Japanese former football player and manager. He played as a Midfielder and was also a coach for the Japan national team.

Playing Career Highlights

Yasuharu Sorimachi started his football journey in high school. He played for Shimizu Higashi High School and then Keio University. While in high school, he helped his team win the national high school championship.

Club Successes

Sorimachi began his professional club career in 1987 with All Nippon Airways. He helped his team get promoted to Japan's top football league in 1988. When the J1 League, Japan's first professional league, started in 1992, he continued to play for the same club, which was then called Yokohama Flügels. With Flügels, he won the Emperor's Cup in 1993.

In 1994, he moved to Bellmare Hiratsuka, which later became Shonan Bellmare. There, he continued his winning streak. He helped the club win the Emperor's Cup in 1994. The team also won the Asian Cup Winners' Cup in 1995, which was a big achievement for the club.

Playing for Japan

Yasuharu Sorimachi also played for the Japan national team. He played 4 games for his country between 1990 and 1991. His first game for Japan was on July 27, 1990, against South Korea. He also represented Japan at the 1990 Asian Games.

Coaching and Managing Teams

After he stopped playing football, Sorimachi became a coach. In 2001, he joined J2 League club Albirex Niigata as their manager. He led the team to victory in 2003, and they were promoted to the J1 League, the top division. He left Albirex Niigata at the end of the 2005 season.

Leading Japan's Youth Team

In July 2006, Sorimachi became the manager for the Japan U-23 national team. He also worked as an assistant coach for the main Japan football team. He successfully led the U-23 Japan team to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Managing Other Clubs

After his time with the national youth team, he returned to club management. In 2009, he managed his former club, Shonan Bellmare, until 2011. In 2012, he moved to Matsumoto Yamaga FC. As of 2020, he has been working as a technical director for the Japan national football team.
