Yateras is a special area in the Guantánamo Province of Cuba. It's called a municipality. The main town in Yateras is Palenque. You can find Palenque in the northern part of the province.

A very important place, Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, is partly in Yateras. This park is so special that UNESCO has named it a World Heritage Site. Yateras is also known for being the highest settlement in Cuba. This means it's located higher up than any other town or city in the country.

Yateras is home to many people. In 2022, about 18,642 people lived there. Most of these people live in rural areas. Only a smaller number live in the main town of Palenque.
