Yeste is a small village located in Las Peñas de Riglos, a municipality in Aragon, Spain. It is about 44 kilometers (27 miles) away from Huesca, which is the capital city of the province. In 2006, only two people lived in Yeste. Interestingly, for most of the 1900s, no one lived there at all!

A Look at Yeste's Past

Yeste has a history that goes back many years. In 1845, Yeste was a bit bigger. It even had its own town hall and a prison. At that time, about 117 people called Yeste home.

Joining Other Villages

Also in 1845, Yeste became part of a larger administrative area. It joined with two other nearby villages: Santa María de la Peña and Triste. Santa María de la Peña was a little larger than Yeste. By joining together, these three villages shared the same local government. This helped them manage their areas more easily.

Where is Yeste Located?

Yeste is found in the beautiful region of Aragon in northeastern Spain. This area is known for its stunning landscapes and historical sites. Being close to Huesca means it's not too far from a larger city, even though Yeste itself is very small.
