Early Life and Start in Boxing
Yokasta was born in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, in 1992. She moved to Costa Rica when she was very young and is now a Costa Rican citizen.
When she was younger, Yokasta first tried volleyball. But her father loved boxing, and he encouraged her to try it. She had her very first boxing match when she was just 13 years old!
Yokasta's Professional Boxing Journey
Yokasta Valle started her professional boxing career on July 26, 2014. Her first fight was in Alajuela, Costa Rica, where she won against Guadalupe "La Fiera" Atilano from Mexico. The judges all agreed she won.
First Challenges and World Titles
On December 1, 2017, Yokasta fought for the WBO light-flyweight title against Naoko Fujioka from Japan. Yokasta lost this fight, which was her first defeat as a professional boxer.
In 2018, she had another big fight for the WBC minimumweight world championship. She fought Tina Rupprecht in Germany and lost by a unanimous decision. This was her second loss.
But Yokasta didn't give up! On August 4, 2019, she fought Joana Pastrana for the IBF mini-flyweight world championship. This fight was in Spain, and Yokasta won! She became the new mini-flyweight world champion.
Unifying Titles and Becoming a Triple Champion
Yokasta continued to win. On September 8, 2022, she had a special fight to "unify" titles. This means she fought another champion, Nguyễn Thị Thu Nhi, to hold both the IBF and WBO mini-flyweight titles at the same time. Yokasta won this fight easily, with all the judges saying she won every round.
Then, on November 26, 2022, Yokasta became a "three-weight world champion." She defeated Evelyn Bermudez to win the IBF and WBO light-flyweight titles. This was a huge achievement!
Defending and Winning More Titles
In March 2023, Yokasta successfully defended her WBO and IBF minimumweight titles by defeating Jessica Basulto Salazar. She did it again on September 16, 2023, winning against Maria Micheo Santizo.
On March 29, 2024, Yokasta fought Seniesa Estrada for the undisputed minimumweight title. This was a very important fight, but Yokasta lost by a unanimous decision.
She quickly returned to winning ways on July 20, 2024, by stopping Ramandeep Kaur in the second round of their fight in Costa Rica.
Yokasta won the WBC female strawweight title on November 1, 2024. She defeated Elizabeth Lopez Corzo in Costa Rica.
Her most recent fight was on March 29, 2025, in Mexico, where she defeated Marlen Esparza in a non-title fight.
