Yolande Bavan, born on June 1, 1942, is a talented singer and actress from Sri Lanka. She is known for her amazing voice and her work in both music and movies.

A Star in the Jazz World
Yolande Bavan started her music journey by touring Australia and Asia. She performed with Graeme Bell's band when she was younger.
Joining a Famous Jazz Group
Yolande became very well-known for joining the jazz vocal group Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. This happened in 1962. She took the place of Annie Ross, who had to leave the group because of health issues.
When Yolande joined, the group's name changed to Lambert, Hendricks & Bavan. She recorded three albums with them. All of these albums were recorded live, meaning they were captured during actual performances.
In 1964, Yolande and another member, Dave Lambert, left the group. This brought an end to the trio.
Other Music Projects
Yolande Bavan also appeared on a TV show called To Tell the Truth in 1962. On the show, her singing group performed the song "This Could Be the Start of Something".
In 1969, Yolande worked with Peter Ivers to create an album. It was called Knight of the Blue Communion and was released by Epic Records.
She also lent her voice to the band Weather Report. She sang on their 1972 album, I Sing the Body Electric.
Acting and Musicals
Besides singing, Yolande Bavan has also performed in many musicals. These include Salvation (1969), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1969), and Michael John LaChiusa's Bernarda Alba (2006).
She has also appeared in films. Some of her movie roles include Parting Glances (1986), One True Thing (1998), and Cosmopolitan (2003). Yolande has also acted in plays.
