Yoshiyuki Matsuyama (born July 31, 1966) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder. He was also a member of the Japan national team. His brother, Hiroaki Matsuyama, was also a football player.
Playing for Clubs
Yoshiyuki Matsuyama was born in Kyoto, Japan, on July 31, 1966. After finishing university, he joined a team called Furukawa Electric in 1989. This was his first professional club.
In 1991, he moved to another team, Matsushita Electric. This team later became known as Gamba Osaka. He played there for many years. In 1997, he joined Kyoto Purple Sanga. This was a team from his hometown. Matsuyama stopped playing football at the end of the 1997 season.
Playing for Japan
Matsuyama was chosen to play for the Japan national team in April 1987. At that time, he was still a student at Waseda University. He joined the team for the qualification games for the 1988 Summer Olympics.
His first game for Japan was on April 8, 1987, against Indonesia. He played a total of 10 games for Japan. During these games, he scored 4 goals for his country. His time with the national team lasted until 1989.
