Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe is a Welsh-language comprehensive school. It is located in Penlan, a part of Swansea, in southwest Wales. This school teaches all subjects in the Welsh language.

It first opened its doors in 2003. The school was created to help Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr and to provide more space. This was because more and more families wanted their children to learn in Welsh.

School History and Growth

When Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe first opened, it only welcomed new students. It did not take any students who were already at Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr. This meant the school started small.

It slowly grew bigger each year. By September 2007, the school had all its year groups, from Year 7 to Year 11. These are students aged 11 to 16. By September 2012, about 900 students were attending the school.

The land where the school stands used to be home to Penlan Senior Comprehensive school for boys. Famous Welsh rugby players once went to that old school.

Learning and Partnerships

In September 2008, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe started a new partnership. It teamed up with Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr for sixth form students. This means older students can take classes at both school sites. This gives them more choices for their subjects.
