Yuba was once a small community located in Yuba County, California. It was also known by the names Rupert Siding and Rupert. Today, Yuba is considered a "former settlement," which means it no longer exists as an active town or community.

What Was Yuba?

Yuba was a tiny place situated about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-northwest of a town called Olivehurst. It was very low to the ground, with an elevation of just 62 feet (19 meters) above sea level. This area is in the central part of California.

Yuba's Location

Yuba was located in Yuba County, which is in the northern part of California's Central Valley. It was quite a distance from major cities, about 38.6 miles (62.1 km) away from San Francisco. Being near the Southern Pacific Railroad was important for its existence, as railroads were vital for travel and trade in the past.

When Did Yuba Exist?

Even though Yuba is no longer a recognized settlement, it did appear on maps as recently as 1895. This tells us it was a known place during the late 19th century. Over time, many small settlements like Yuba either grew into larger towns or faded away as people moved to other areas or as industries changed.
