Tory Lester Zellars (born on April 24, 1996), known as Yung Tory, is a Canadian rapper. He is also sometimes called Mr. Yaw Yaw. He grew up in Mississauga, Ontario.

Yung Tory first signed with Lil Durk's record label, Only the Family, in 2017. A year later, he joined Timbaland's Mosley Music Group. This group is part of Def Jam Recordings. In early 2019, he released his first studio album, Rastar.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Yung Tory was born in Toronto, Canada. He spent much of his childhood in both Toronto and Atlanta. His family comes from Jamaica. He is one of the few artists who mixes rap music with the Rastafarian way of life.

Yung Tory is a lifelong vegan. He is also a dedicated Rastafarian. This is a religion and way of life that started in Jamaica. He was inspired by rappers like Lil Wayne, Dipset, and 50 Cent. He found his love for music very early. As a toddler, he would rap over beats on his father's Xbox game console.

Yung Tory's Music Career

Yung Tory started rapping in 2011. He gained attention from rapper Lil Durk. Lil Durk signed Yung Tory to his label in 2017.

In 2019, Yung Tory signed with Def Jam Recordings. He then released his first album, Rastar, in March of that year. The main song from the album, also called "Rastar," was used in another song. The artist Jorja Smith used a part of "Rastar" for her song "Be Honest". This song featured Burna Boy.

Later in 2019, Yung Tory released the song "Friends." For this song, he used a sample from a track by Anne-Marie and Marshmello. He also released "Netflix & Chill." This song featured Fenix Flexin from Shoreline Mafia. It became one of his most popular songs.

In September 2019, he released his first EP, Still Here. An EP is like a mini-album with fewer songs. This EP was released through Timbaland's label, Mosley Music Group. Yung Tory continued to release new music. On January 24, 2020, he released the single "2020."
