Yuriy Shatunov: A Pop Star's Story
Yuriy Shatunov was a well-known singer from Russia. He became famous as the main singer of a band called Laskoviy Mai. This band was very popular in the 1980s and early 1990s.
His Early Life
Yuriy Shatunov was born on September 6, 1973, in a city called Kumertau in Russia. When he was three years old, his father left. He was raised by his mother, Vera Shatunova. Yuriy took his mother's last name, Shatunov.
When he was eleven, his mother sadly passed away from a heart problem. After that, he lived with his aunt and grandparents for a short time. However, they found it hard to manage his behavior.
Yuriy was then sent to a children's home in Orenburg. He was known for being a bit rebellious there. He would sometimes run away, play guitar, and sing on the streets to earn a little money.
Becoming a Music Star
Even with a difficult childhood, Yuriy was a very good singer. At the children's home, he met Sergei Kuznetsov, a music teacher. Together, they formed the band "Laskovyi Mai" in 1986. The band's name means "Tender May."
Laskoviy Mai often sang songs about sad love stories. This was a new style for young bands in the 1980s. Yuriy was the lead singer, and the band quickly became very popular in Russia. They performed from 1986 to 1992.
Life After the Band
After Laskoviy Mai broke up, Yuriy Shatunov started a solo career. In 1996, he moved to Germany. He wanted to finish his education, which he had missed because of his early music career. He also studied to become a music producer.
Yuriy Shatunov was married to Svetlana Shatunova. They got married in Germany in 2007 after dating for seven years. They had two children, a son and a daughter.
Before he passed away, Yuriy was still very busy with his music. He often performed his songs in Russia, Germany, and other countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, like Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
