Yuriy Bilonoh (Ukrainian: Юрій Білоног) is a famous Ukrainian shot putter. He was born on March 9, 1974. Shot put is an athletics event where athletes throw a heavy ball as far as they can.

Early Life and Training

Yuriy Bilonoh grew up in Bilopillia, a town in Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. He started his athletics journey at a special sports school in his hometown. His first coach, Vladimir Belikov, helped him learn the basics of shot put.

A Career in Shot Put

Yuriy Bilonoh became a very successful shot putter. He competed in many big events around the world. He won several medals, showing his strength and skill.

Major Wins and Achievements

Yuriy had many great moments in his career. Here are some of his most important wins:

  • In 1992, he won a gold medal at the World Junior Championships in Seoul, South Korea. This was a big win early in his career.
  • He won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Paris, France, in 1997.
  • In 2002, he earned a gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Munich, Germany.
  • Yuriy also won gold medals at the Summer Universiade twice, in 1995 and 1997. The Universiade is a major sports event for university athletes.
  • He also took home a gold medal at the European Throwing Cup in 2007.

Olympic Games Participation

Yuriy Bilonoh took part in several Olympic Games. He competed in the shot put event, representing Ukraine. At the Sydney 2000 Olympics, he finished in fifth place. He also competed in the Beijing 2008 Olympics, where he placed fifth again.

In the 2004 Athens Olympics, he was initially awarded a gold medal. However, this medal was later withdrawn in 2012 due to a rule violation.
