Yusaku Ueno (上野 優作, Ueno Yusaku, born November 1, 1973) is a former Japanese football player. He was most recently manager of J3 League club FC Gifu.

Playing Career Highlights
Yusaku Ueno was born in Mooka, Japan, on November 1, 1973. He became a professional football player after finishing his studies at the University of Tsukuba.
Early Club Years
In 1996, Ueno joined Avispa Fukuoka, a team that had just moved up to the top Japanese league, the J1 League. He quickly became an important player for the team in his very first season.
In 2000, he moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima. However, he did not get to play much in matches there.
Success in J2 League
In 2001, Ueno joined Kyoto Purple Sanga, which was in the J2 League (the second division). He played in many games for them. The team won the J2 League championship in 2001. This win meant they were promoted back to the J1 League for the 2002 season.
In 2003, he moved to another J2 League team, Albirex Niigata. Again, he became a regular player. Albirex Niigata also won the J2 League championship in 2003. They were then promoted to the J1 League for 2004.
Later Playing Career
Ueno returned to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2006. He played in many matches that year. However, he did not play at all in 2007.
In June 2007, he joined Tochigi SC, a team from his home area. They played in the Japan Football League, which is below the J1 and J2 leagues. He was a regular player for two seasons. Tochigi SC was promoted to the J2 League in 2009. Yusaku Ueno decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2008 season.
Coaching and Management
After his playing days, Yusaku Ueno began a career in coaching.
Working with Japan's National Team
He was part of the technical team for Japan's national football team. This team helped prepare the players for the 2022 World Cup, which took place in Qatar.
Managing FC Gifu
On December 15, 2022, Yusaku Ueno was appointed as the manager of FC Gifu. This club plays in the J3 League, which is Japan's third professional football division. He managed the team for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
