Yusaku Ueno (上野 優作, Ueno Yusaku, born November 1, 1973) is a Japanese former professional football player. He played as a forward. After his playing career, he became a football manager. He most recently managed J3 League club FC Gifu.

Yusaku Ueno's Football Journey
Yusaku Ueno was born in Mooka, Japan, on November 1, 1973. He grew up loving football and worked hard to become a professional player. He played for several teams in Japan's top leagues during his career.
Starting His Professional Career
After finishing his studies at the University of Tsukuba, Yusaku Ueno joined Avispa Fukuoka in 1996. This team had just been promoted to the J1 League, which is Japan's highest football division. He quickly became a regular player for the team, meaning he played in most of their games.
Moving to New Teams
In 2000, Ueno moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima. However, he didn't get to play much there. So, in 2001, he joined Kyoto Purple Sanga, a team in the J2 League (the second division). He played many matches for them, and the team won the J2 championship in 2001. This win helped them get promoted back to the J1 League for the 2002 season.
Success with Albirex Niigata
In 2003, Ueno moved to another J2 club, Albirex Niigata. Here, he once again became a key player. His team won the J2 championship in 2003, which meant they also moved up to the J1 League in 2004. He continued to play for Albirex Niigata in the J1 League until 2005.
Returning to Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Retirement
Yusaku Ueno returned to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2006. He played in many games that year, but in 2007, he didn't play at all. In June 2007, he made a move to his hometown club, Tochigi SC, which was in the Japan Football League (JFL). He was a regular player for two seasons there. His efforts helped Tochigi SC get promoted to the J2 League in 2009. However, Yusaku Ueno decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2008 season.

After retiring as a player, Yusaku Ueno continued his involvement in football by becoming a coach.
Working with Japan's National Team
Ueno was part of the technical team for Japan's national football team. This team helped prepare the players for the 2022 World Cup, which took place in Qatar.
Managing FC Gifu
On December 15, 2022, Yusaku Ueno was announced as the new manager for FC Gifu. This club plays in the J3 League, which is Japan's third-highest football division. He managed the team for the 2023 season.
