Yvonne Weldon is a Wiradjuri person. The Wiradjuri are one of the largest Aboriginal groups in New South Wales, Australia. From a young age, Yvonne was very passionate about helping Aboriginal people and communities. She wanted to bring about positive change for them. She went to public school in Redfern, Sydney.

Her Work and Leadership

Yvonne Weldon has spent over 20 years working with important Aboriginal and government groups. She helps make a difference across Australia.

Currently, she holds several important roles:

  • She is the Deputy Chair of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council. This group helps manage land for Aboriginal people.
  • She is also the Deputy Chair of the New South Wales Australia Day Council.
  • She is a board member of Domestic Violence NSW. This group works to prevent family violence.
  • She used to be a board member of Redfern Jarjum College. This school helps Aboriginal children.

Her Book, Sixty-Seven Days

In 2016, Yvonne Weldon's unpublished story, 67 Days, was recognized for an award. She then received a scholarship to help her write. Her book, Sixty-Seven Days, was published in 2022. It tells a powerful story that many people enjoy reading.

Welcome to Country Ceremony
