Zúñiga and the Carlist Wars
Zúñiga played a small part in a historical conflict called the Carlist Wars. These wars happened in Spain during the 19th century. They were fought between different groups who wanted to decide who should be the king or queen of Spain.
A famous Carlist General named Zumalacarregui stayed in Zúñiga on October 26, 1834. This was just before he won two important battles against the Liberals. These victories happened at La Alegria and Venta de Echavarri on October 27–28, 1834.
