Zal Sissokho is a talented musician from Senegal who now lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is famous for his unique music style. He mixes the sounds of the African kora with Spanish flamenco music.

His 2020 album, Kora Flamenca, is a great example of this mix. It won the Félix Award for World Music Album of the Year. This album was also nominated for a Juno Award and won the Canadian Folk Music Award for World Music Album of the Year. These are all big awards in Canadian music!

Zal Sissokho's Musical Journey

Zal Sissokho moved to Canada in 1999. In 2004, he started his own band called Buntalo. His music often tells stories, following the old griot tradition from West Africa. Griots are like musical storytellers who pass down history and culture through songs.

Besides Kora Flamenca, Zal Sissokho has released several other albums. He made three albums with his band Buntalo. He also created one album with two other musicians, Marcus Viana and Ibrahima Gaye.
