Zarrina Mirshakar, born on March 19, 1947, is a talented composer from Tajikistan. She grew up in Dushanbe, the capital city, and her father was a famous national poet named Mirsaid Mirshakar. Zarrina loved music from a young age. She studied at the Dushanbe Music College from 1963 to 1967, learning from a teacher named Yuri Ter-Osipov. Later, she went to the famous Moscow Conservatory, a big music school, from 1967 to 1974, where she learned from Sergey Balasanian.

Teaching and Career

After finishing her studies in 1974, Zarrina Mirshakar started working at the Mirzo Tursun-zade Institute of Art in Tajikistan. This is a special school for art. She taught students there. By 1994, she became a senior lecturer. This means she was a very experienced teacher, helping students learn how to create and arrange music (which is called orchestration and composition).
