Zealong is a unique tea company based in Hamilton, New Zealand. It was the very first place in New Zealand to grow tea plants for business. Zealong focuses on making high-quality loose teas, including green, oolong, and black tea.
The company makes sure its teas are grown and made in a very special way. Zealong teas are certified as organic or are in the process of becoming organic. They are also Halal certified, which means they are prepared according to Islamic rules. Plus, they follow strict international food safety rules (ISO 22000 / HACCP).
Growing Tea in New Zealand
The area around Hamilton, New Zealand, is perfect for growing tea plants. The weather and soil are just right, and there isn't much heavy frost. This helped the company start growing the special tea plant, called camellia sinensis, back in 1996.
In January 2010, Zealong opened a restaurant right on its tea farm. It's called the Camellia Tea House. Visitors can enjoy delicious food and, of course, fresh tea there.

Zealong is a very successful company that sends its tea to other countries. It's seen as an important business in the Waikato region of New Zealand. The company is known for its new ideas and for helping the local economy.
Zealong has also gained attention from news and media around the world. People in countries like China and Taiwan, where this type of tea originally comes from, have shown interest. A popular New Zealand TV show, Campbell Live, featured Zealong in 2009. The show looked at how the company dealt with challenges, like a big dry spell that affected the country in 2013.
In September 2016, Zealong made an important deal. They signed an agreement to export their tea to a German tea seller called TeeGschwendner. This helped their teas reach even more people around the world.
