Zeinebou Mint Taleb Moussa (Arabic: زينب منت طالب موسى) is a brave activist from Mauritania. She works hard to protect the rights of women and children. Early Career and Helping Others
Zeinebou Mint Taleb Moussa first trained as a midwife. She worked in the Ministry of Health in Mauritania. In the year 2000, she teamed up with other midwives. Together, they created the AMSME. This group aimed to teach women about their health and rights, especially for mothers and children.
As they worked, they saw a big need to help people who had been seriously hurt or treated badly. So, in 2001, Zeinebou started the El Wafa center in Nouakchott. This center provides support and care for victims of serious harm.
Important Roles and New Laws
In 2016, the president of Mauritania chose her for an important role. She became a member of the National Process for the Prevention of Torture (French: Mécanisme National de Prévention de la Torture). This group works to prevent cruel treatment. She has also given advice to the Global Fund for Women, which helps women around the world.
Zeinebou Mint Taleb Moussa is currently working with other leaders in Mauritania. They are trying to create new laws to protect people from harm. This is important because some types of harm are not clearly covered by the old laws.
