Life and Career
Zero Chou grew up in Keelung, Taiwan. She went to National Chengchi University and studied Philosophy, finishing in 1992. Before she started making movies, she worked as a journalist, telling stories through writing.
She became interested in filmmaking because she loved how stories and visuals could be combined to create something powerful. Many people see her as one of Taiwan's most gifted documentary directors. Her films have won awards at festivals all over the world.
Zero Chou is known for telling stories that explore many different kinds of relationships and experiences. She is currently working on a big project called the Six Asian Cities Rainbow Project (亞洲六城彩虹計劃). This project involves making six films set in different Asian cities. She is working hard to finish these films quickly, as some places have rules that make it difficult to film stories about diverse communities.
