History of NCCU
The school started in 1927 in Nanjing, China's capital at the time. It was called the Central School of Party Affairs. Its goal was to train people for the Nationalist Party. In 1929, its name changed to Central School of Governance. This happened after the Nationalist Party united China.

The university reopened in 1954 in Taipei. It was renamed National Chengchi University. This was done to help train people for government jobs in Taiwan. At first, only graduate students could attend. But in 1955, undergraduate students were also accepted.
