Zeus: The World's Tallest Dog

Zeus was an amazing dog known for his incredible height. When he stood on his back legs, he could stretch up to 7 feet 5 inches (2.26 meters) tall! This is taller than most people. When measured in October 2011, Zeus was 3 feet 8 inches (1.118 meters) from his foot to his withers (the highest part of his shoulder). This measurement officially made him the tallest dog in the world.

Life and Record

Zeus was a male Great Dane. He was born in Otsego, Michigan. His owners were Kevin and Denise Doorlag. They loved Zeus very much. Being a Great Dane, Zeus was already a large breed of dog. However, Zeus grew to be much taller than even other Great Danes.

His record as the world's tallest dog was officially recognized on September 13, 2012. Before Zeus, another Great Dane named Giant George held the record. After Zeus, the title went to another Great Dane named Freddy. Zeus held the record for almost two years.

His Final Days

Sadly, Zeus passed away on September 3, 2014. He died from natural causes, which means he died because of old age. His owner, Kevin Doorlag, announced his passing on September 11, 2014. Zeus was almost six years old when he died. He was a beloved pet and a true gentle giant.
