Freddy was a very special Great Dane dog from the United Kingdom. He was born in May 2012 and sadly passed away on January 27, 2021. Freddy became famous for being named the world's tallest living dog by the Guinness World Records. He took this amazing title from another tall dog named Zeus.

Freddy's Amazing Life

Freddy was born in May 2012. He lived in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, in the United Kingdom. His owner was Claire Stoneman, and he lived with his sister, Fleur.

When Freddy was a tiny puppy, he was actually the smallest of his brothers and sisters. He was so small that his owner, Claire, had to take him home earlier than planned. This was because he wasn't feeding well from his mother.

Even though he was small as a puppy, Freddy grew to be huge! When he was young, he loved to chew things. He even chewed up and destroyed 26 sofas! Claire spent a lot of money, about £100 every week, just to feed him.

Becoming the World's Tallest Dog

The Guinness World Records team measured Freddy on September 13, 2016. They measured his height from the ground to his shoulders, which is called the "withers." He stood at 3 feet 4.75 inches (103.5 cm) tall.

When Freddy stood up on his back legs, he was even taller! He reached an incredible 7 feet 5.5 inches (227.3 cm). It took a little while to measure him because Freddy was a bit scared of the tape measure at first.

After being measured, Freddy officially became the world's tallest living dog. He took the record from Zeus, another Great Dane who lived in Michigan, USA.

Later Years

Freddy lived to be 8 and a half years old. He passed away on January 27, 2021. Towards the end of his life, he had some health problems with his back legs, which made it hard for him to walk without slipping.
